About the Event

This year, the Northern Virginia Black Attorneys Association is hosting the annual Color of Justice Program virtually on Saturday, December 5, 2020.

The purpose of the Color of Justice program is to encourage minority high school students to pursue careers in the law as attorneys and judges. The program opens with the students being divided into small groups or “juries” and collectively watching a mock trial with a presiding judge with performances by local attorneys. The student small group “juries” then separate into break-out sessions, where they are joined by at least one judge, one attorney, and potentially others and law students, to deliberate. The small groups enjoy an environment where discussion and questions among participants and the students can flourish. The students reassemble to present their verdicts and the winner of an essay contest will be announced and scholarship money awarded. The program closes for the students with a panel of judges and legal professionals sharing personal and professional insights as well as remarks regarding preparation for higher education.

They welcome the participation of your students this year. If you have any questions, please contact novabaa@gmail.com. Thank you.
