About the Event

This year’s Summit will be an experiential opportunity to learn,  cross-share, garner ideas and see tested outcomes to support their  households. Additionally, key takeaways include  1) accessing quality  care through Mayor Bowser's 1-800-MOM-BABY, 2) increasing Medicaid  re-enrollment and boosting the utilization of expanded healthcare  services, and 3) promoting Family-Friendly Policies in the workplace.

Returning  to work—following live births, pregnancy loss, new foster placements or  adoption—requires support. This support must be from trusted sources  and relatable voices. With each scenario, families decide whether to  return to, leave, or change how they engage in the workforce. Parents do  not have to be alone and there are a variety of cultural, regional, and  industry-specific resources that will be integrated into Mayor Muriel  Bowser’s 6th Annual National Maternal and Infant Health Summit.

A ‘whole of government’ and multi-sector approach is necessary to listen and be responsive to parents’ needs.
